Mission and Vision of Virginia Cooperative Extension
The Virginia Cooperative Extension enables people to improve their lives through an educational process that uses scientific knowledge focused on issues and needs (Revised July 1994).
The Amelia County Extension Office, a cooperative venture between the Federal Government, the Commonwealth of Virginia and Amelia County, provides a wide variety of programs and services to the youth and adults of Amelia County. Working in cooperation with neighboring County Offices the Extension Office also provides much needed and vitally important professional resources to the entire Heartland Region.
Building on the strength of Amelia's agriculture, natural resources, family and community heritage, the Extension Office enables people to shape their futures through research based educational programs. Recognizing that knowledge is power, Amelia's Extension Agents serve people where they live and work. Audiences are involved in designing, implementing and evaluating needs-driven programs. Extension Offices are dynamic organizations that stimulate positive personal and societal change that leads to more productive lives, families, farms, and forests, as well as a better environment in urban and rural communities.
