The mission of the Amelia County Recreation and Parks Department is to enhance the quality of life in Amelia County by providing the best possible recreational facilities, open natural spaces and leisure programs for our citizens. The Amelia County Parks and Recreation Department also provides diverse year-round leisure opportunities, nature walks, comprehensive recreational programs, activities and team sports that encourage health, fitness, cultural, recreational, educational, and social opportunities within our community, county and region.

The Amelia County Recreation and Parks Department currently utilizes six county fields, the War Memorial building and all Amelia County Public Schools in its service delivery.

Additionally, multiple public agencies and civic organizations use our facilities to provide programs and services as needed. These groups include the Amelia Academy, Love Covenant School, the James Hamner Library, the Amelia Cooperative Extension Office, as well as several civic and charatible organizations.

The Amelia County Recreation and Parks Department offers programs beginning with toddlers and continue to provide quality programs and services through our seniors.

Currently, all Senior citizen programs are done in collaboration with, and in partnership with, the Work Force and Senior Navigator program.

The benefits of Amelia County's leisure programs and services are specifically designed to meet the physical, mental, cultural, and social needs of our residents and the many annual visitors to our community.
