The Amelia County Historical Society was founded in 1958 and is located in the Jackson Building in the courthouse area. The object of the Society is to discover, procure and preserve whatever may relate to the natural, civic, architectural and literary history of Amelia County and to have available this material for study and research.

275th Anniversary Celebrated With Historical House Tour Posted on: 03/08/2010 01:19 PM

In celebration of Amelia County’s 275th Anniversary, the Amelia County Historical Society will be hosting their Historical House Tour on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Featured will be six private homes; the Glebe, Haw Branch, Hardaway House, Edgewood, Dykeland, Hotel Amelia and Zion Hill Church. Two Houses are listed on the National Registry of Historical Homes. A block ticket is $25 and includes all houses and the church.  Tickets for individual houses are $5 and will be available at each house the day of the tour.  Box lunches are $10. Brochures with more details will be available at various public locations in Amelia and at the Amelia County Historical Library at 16501 Church Street. For further information, please call (804)561-3180 on Monday, Wednesday or Friday during the hours of 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
